| | Pin default Mail Account ? I am running Windows Live Mail 12.0. 1606 - under Vista I have three email accounts setup in WLM. I normally use the "default" email account daily. I occasionally use the other two, but very little. I want the default email account to be automatically selected "EVERY" time I click on New to create a new email. If my default email account is highlighted, then it is selected as the FROM email address for this new email. Otherwise, it is not selected. If I am not careful, I accidentally send a new email from one of the other two secondary email accounts - when I really wanted to create the email from the default email account. The new outgoing email is always selected from the highlighted email account. QUESTION: is there a way to "PIN" the default email account to the NEW email function? That is, how do I "force" all outgoing emails to be generated from the default email account? Just selecting it as the "default" does not seem to do much of anything ... THANKS, Gene |

| | Re: Pin default Mail Account ? What you have described is how WLM works. Whichever account folder you have last selected becomes the default identity for a new email. There is no workaround that I know of, other than going back to Windows Mail. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Gene" <genes@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:u95awziYIHA.1208@xxxxxx Quote: >I am running Windows Live Mail 12.0. 1606 - under Vista > > I have three email accounts setup in WLM. > > I normally use the "default" email account daily. > > I occasionally use the other two, but very little. > > I want the default email account to be automatically selected > "EVERY" time I click on New to create a new email. > > If my default email account is highlighted, then it is selected as the > FROM email address for this new email. | | Re: Pin default Mail Account ? Not goin' back for sure :-) What ever happened to the old "Open with the Input folder" option ? That would at least get me started with the correct account on boot. | | Re: Pin default Mail Account ? I don't think the "Open with..." option was ever in OE. You may be thinking of Outlook? You'll just have to remember to click the desired account folder before starting a new email. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Gene" <genes@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23bA5ABjYIHA.4208@xxxxxx Quote: > Not goin' back for sure :-) > > What ever happened to the old "Open with the Input folder" option ? > That would at least get me started with the correct account on boot. > > THANKS, > Gene > > > > "Gary VanderMolen" <gary@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uc9sj5iYIHA.2268@xxxxxx Quote: >> What you have described is how WLM works. >> Whichever account folder you have last selected becomes the >> default identity for a new email. >> There is no workaround that I know of, other than going back >> to Windows Mail. >> -- >> Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) >> >> >> "Gene" <genes@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:u95awziYIHA.1208@xxxxxx Quote: >>>I am running Windows Live Mail 12.0. 1606 - under Vista >>> >>> I have three email accounts setup in WLM. >>> >>> I normally use the "default" email account daily. >>> >>> I occasionally use the other two, but very little. >>> >>> I want the default email account to be automatically selected >>> "EVERY" time I click on New to create a new email. >>> >>> If my default email account is highlighted, then it is selected as the >>> FROM email address for this new email.
