| | Message Rule Priority Is there a way to have my message rules processed before the spam filtering takes place? I have established a rule that is supposed to sort an incoming message into the appropriate folder, but it is getting sorted to the junk mail folder instead. It is at the top of the rule list, has the "stop further proceessing of rules" at the end, etc. I am very familiar with how the rules are setup, and suspect the spam filtering is moving the mail to the junk folder before my rules is processed. I have the spam filter set to low and would like to keep it there. Any suggestions much appreciated. |

Spam filtering always occurs first unless you turn it off altogether. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "coldwinter" <coldwinter@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:9507BCDE-DAFC-43C7-8AE9-4C16EC32FE37@xxxxxx Quote: > Is there a way to have my message rules processed before the spam filtering > takes place? | | Re: Message Rule Priority Mailing lists are often treated that way, especially when they reach someone whose address appears only on the Bcc: line and no address appears on the To: line. You can sometimes get around this by clicking Tools, then Junk E-mail Options, then Safe Senders, then adding the sender's address to the list, or even just the part of the address after @ if you want mail from anyone who shares the part of the address after @. | | Re: Message Rule Priority Well, thanks for the info guys. However, in my "simple" email example there is a Subject and a To: email address (mine), so I'm still at a loss as to why this email would be sorted to my Junk folder. I have checked, re-checked and un-checked any rules that would sort to this to Junk. But alas, it still goes to Junk. Thoughts anyone?? | | Re: Message Rule Priority There is no way to know because Microsoft does not publish the algorithms it uses for determining whether a given message is spam or not. If those messages have a limited number of senders, you can add them to the Safe Senders list, which is processed before the spam determination. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "coldwinter" <coldwinter@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:204B8E3A-787C-48EA-817D-51E4686943F0@xxxxxx Quote: > Thanks for getting back to me. | | Re: Message Rule Priority Thanks Gary....the problem is I receive these simple emails everyday from all over the world, when new members join my membership website. So, there is a wide variety of emails addresses. And all of them sort to junk. All the other message rules I have setup (and there are about 20 of them) are working perfectly. It's just this particular one that has caused a problem. That's why I'm trying to figure out if there is anything unique about this email that is causing the problem, but it has me stumped. Hummm... | | Re: Message Rule Priority The only suggestion I have is for you to turn off the spam filter in Windows Mail, and investigate some alternative methods. If your mail provider offers server-level spam filtering, that would be option, or switching to a mail provider who has that option. Also, look into third party anti-spam products. I've heard good comments about K9: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Interne...Tools/K9.shtml -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "coldwinter" <coldwinter@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:A9159804-DC55-413B-AAFC-47D63AC7E647@xxxxxx Quote: > Thanks Gary....the problem is I receive these simple emails everyday from all > over the world, when new members join my membership website.
