Vista - sending a picture with windows mail

vista ultimate 64 bit. with att yahoo.
When I click on a picture and want to email it as an attachment. the picture
resizer appears and resize is complete. I click on it to attach it to a new
email and it disappears and no email appears to address and send.
any help would help.

Windows Mail has a problem attaching pictures or other files that are
still open in any other program. Try closing it in all other programs,
then starting a new message in Windows Mail, then in the new message
window click Insert, then File Attachment, then find the file.

I fixed the problem. go to defaulk programs on start menu.
click explorer as default.
click windows mail.
choose defaults.
set program associations.
click extensions.
all three boxes must be checked.
worked for me.
