| | Windows Mail slowness and duplication of contacts. We have set up windows mail as the e-mail client on a new HP Media Center Vista Home Premium computer with 2 gigs of RAM. About 2,000 contacts were migrated over from Outlook Express and imported into Windows Mail, which has made the program very slow to open and respond. In reading other posts, it seems this is a common problem with Windows Mail, but there does not seem to be a solution from Microsoft. Other than just paring down the contacts list, has anyone located a permanent fix for this issue? Also, when adding contacts to groups in mail, they seem to be duplicating themselves after mail has been closed and re-opened. Has anyone heard of this issue? Thanking you in advance for your suggestions, -- F. Lynn |

I suggest you upgrade to WLM which is much better supported: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "F. | | Re: Windows Mail slowness and duplication of contacts. Thank you for your response, Gary, I guess I need to learn more about Windows Live mail....thought it was just a Webmail based system like Hotmail, but I see it appears to have desktop client capabilities. What I want is a simple clean desktop client that will work in Vista like Outlook Express works in XP. Windows Mail appears to do exactly what we would want in an e-mail client, if it were not for the bugs. -- F. | | Re: Windows Mail slowness and duplication of contacts. Yeah, it is unfortunate that we can't always get what we want. Sometimes you have to settle for the lesser of two evils. ;-) -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "F.
