Microsoft Word as Editor?

Does anyone know if I can set up Windows Mail to use Microsoft Office Word
2007 as the editor? If so would sure like to hear from you.

Also, I have my outlook express on another computer and I can't figure out
how to get my mailboxes and folders with saved emails onto the new computer
with Vista Windows mail.

See here:

If you want to bring across the contacts, include the .wab file. After
you copy the files to a directory on your new computer, but before
you import them into Windows Mail, make sure the copies are
read-write instead of readonly.

Re: Microsoft Word as Editor?

No, you can't use Word as the email editor (unless you want to send Word
attachments).

Copy all of the .dbx files from the XP computer to a temporary folder on the
Vista computer.
Open Windows Mail (or Windows Live Mail, which is better) and do a
File - Import - Messages - MSOE6
when you go to select the folder containing the .dbx files, do not open the
folder.

A more thorough explanation is here, under the section named "Importing from
Outlook Express"...

Windows Live Mail...

I'm nervous about trying Live Mail....is that web based or something? I
don't like web based mail so that worries me a bit. How is it different?

Re: Windows Live Mail...

Windows Live Mail is a desktop program, like Windows Mail is. It used to be
named Windows Live Mail Desktop. You download & install it. In addition to
POP and IMAP accounts, it can also access Hotmail accounts.

The Webmail version is now called Windows Live Hotmail.

Re: Windows Live Mail...

Okay, I have trusted you on this and have downloaded it. <big smile> Not
really understanding what I did to sign into live mail....I think I have a
new email address now that I really didn't want. Oh well, I'll figure that
out eventually, but now it wants my pop account and for me to manually put
my email info into it. Is there a way for it to automatically detect
windows mail and just go on top of it, or will I have two email programs on
my computer. Live and regular and of course outlook, so make that
three.....? Is there a simpler way to do this or did I install it
wrong....I imagined it to over right the windows mail and i would only have
one program? Also it said it downloaded wrong, yet it's there....<puzzled
look> I must be tired, it just shouldn't be this hard. <sigh>

Re: Windows Live Mail...

It's usually loaded beside Windows Mail, not on top of it, so it can get
the settings and the old messages from Windows Mail. It then hides
Windows Mail but does not erase it, and you can create a new shortcut
to Windows Mail and be able to use both programs.

If the Windows Mail database is no longer usable, you'll have to set
up Windows Live Mail instead. See here:
