I have the red x problem with Windows Mail & Vista. The email I refer to is
from Microsoft Download Notifications.

Somehow you wound up in the wrong place.
This forum (newsgroup actually) is for Vista's Windows Mail program.
"Windows Live" is not a program, it is a group name for a whole family
of programs, see http://get.live.com .
If you meant Windows Live Mail, their support group is
microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop .
If you meant Windows Live Hotmail, their support group is
microsoft.public.msn.discussion .

Hi just sighed up,Because like others i"m having problems recieving pictures
in SOME e-mails off certain friends(all other e-mails ok) Just getting that
little red cross upper left corner in a blank square where the picture should
be?Have tried all the solutions so far suggested without any joy.I"m using
windows mail on a windows home vista premium laptop.Anymore ideas guys,Thanks

Re: No Pictures

In a number of messages with pictures attached, click on the paperclip that
should
appear near the top right corner of the message. Record the file names and
whether the pictures displayed correctly. Look for a pattern of the
pictures
displaying correctly if the parts of the file names starting with the last
period
are in one group, but not if they are in another group. Tell us what
pattern you
see.
