Can't apply newsgroup message rules

I am a part of a newsgroup for an online class. I've tried to apply a rule
that will highlight my instructors posts. I keep getting the following
message.

"You do not have a news account set up. Once you have set up a news account
by going to Tools/Accounts, you will be able to apply your rules to this
account."

The problem though, is that I do have a newsgroup and it works fine. I can
send and receive messages just fine.

ROTFL, Your instructor had a question about this system he set up last
week. Ask him about how to interact with it.

Lincoln actually got it right but was way ahead of his time when he said,
"You can have some of you computer working all of the time and all of your
computer working some of the time but..." It was he that said that, wasn't
it?

Re: Can't apply newsgroup message rules

Seriously. I wonder if it was one of my instructors or just another
instructor who has this same problem. In my previous class I had my rules to
apply just fine. I just started a new class though and now it isn't working.

Go to the news account via the Tools menu>Accounts>select it and click the
'set as default' button.
Now try to apply your rule.
