| | Vista mail sucks! I have been using Outlook for 10 years - not Express, though I have provided technical support to Express users. Just recently got my first version of Vista and it's mail program - it sucks. Can't use a previous .pst file, it lacks features that were in Express, and won't even keep keep text formats set from line to line (as in fonts, <insert> off/on, bold or italicize, etc.) It's terribly slow, Given how badly Vista mail performs (based against how well Outlook 97 and 2000 did!) anyone out there have a 3rd party recommendation for a mail program that has the feature set and workability that Outlook 2000 has? I'd try the newer versions of Outlook except now I can't trust MS to preserve features and reliability. |

It is just an update and rebranding of Outlook Express with a few new features like a junk mail filter. You're right that Windows Mail, when dealing with huge numbers of messages in the tens of thousands is quite a bit slower than Outlook Express, but that's because now it stores messages as individual files, rather than in a DB. I use Outlook 2007. -- Paul Smith, Yeovil, UK. Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User. http://www.dasmirnov.net/blog/ http://www.windowsresource.net/ *Remove nospam. to reply by e-mail* |

| | Re: Vista mail sucks! Both Outlook 2003 and 2007 work well in Vista. Given your resistance to change, better try Outlook 2003 first. ;-) -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Peter Keep" <kflying@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23U7Fbq9dIHA.288@xxxxxx Quote: >I have been using Outlook for 10 years - not Express, though I have provided technical support to Express users. > > Just recently got my first version of Vista and it's mail program - it sucks.
