"search results in indexed locations"

I just happened on to "search results in indexed locations" and there are a
ton of things listed - some emails from 2006 and even 2005. Why are these
here and can I delete them? I have saved pictures that were attachments in
some of the emails, but can't understand why the emails are there. This may
be a really rediculous question, but I really would like to find out. I
would think deleting temp. internet files would have gotten rid of them. I
don't know that much about computers - learning more each day, but have
really messed up mine at times deleting things that shouldn't have been
deleted.

Windows Mail doesn't use the temporary internet files directory for storing
emails. It uses a separate directory for this, and doesn't erase the
e-mails
until you tell it to.

Hi ddw170,

The Index runs and updates itself slowly in the background. It may just not have finished updating itself yet to reflect that those files have been deleted. You can "Rebuild" the Index to update it quicker. This will show you how.
