| | Windows Mail Passwords not storing I have had my computer almost a year, no Windows Mail issues til now. I have Vista Home Premium. I went to check mail today on Windows Mail and all of my passwords would not store any longer. I get a windows security pop up for each account to put in the logon info, I do, click store info, ok. I put them back in, checked mail ok, but when I closed Windows Mail and restarted it, same problems. When I put the passwords in the Accounts section and hit APPLY, they disappear again once I reopen it. I have deleted the accounts and put them back in, same problems. I check 6 accounts at once too, so it is a major pain in the butt to input every one each time like this. It is not my antivirus program either, I have used the same one for a year with no problems until today. This morning it all worked fine, now it the passwords will not save. Any suggestions?? -- rag133 Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

| | Re: Windows Mail Passwords not storing I did a system restore, back to March 2. Works fine now. Ive read a ton of boards here, why does everyone blame the Antivirus programs? THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE! The issue seems to be the pure crappiness of Vista. -- rag133 Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

If you're worried about not scanning email, see this admission from Symantec/Norton, the originator of email scanning, that it doesn't do much good: <http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/d4578f66d8f00a0188256d4e006aaa94/4ba5fc8ef939c44c88256c7500723cf0?OpenDocument&src=bar_sch_nam> |

| | Re: Windows Mail Passwords not storing Are you a computer expert? Some very knowledgeable people who are computer professionals have come to the conclusion that Windows Mail is not compatible with McAfee and Norton antivirus products. How do you explain the fact that people who use Avast or AVG antivirus have never had a problem with Windows Mail? Enjoy your system restore while it lasts. The thing that cause your problem the first time will be back sooner or later. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "rag133" <rag133.35rgg4@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:rag133.35rgg4@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... | | Re: Windows Mail Passwords not storing I am very good with computers, but certain issues I cannot fix. I do not use Norton or McAfee, I use AVG. When the passwords work at 8AM, then do not at 10AM, something else is wrong since the antivirus did not change. I will enjoy my restore, if it comes back I will address the issue again. Enjoy Vista with the excuses as to why it is a piece of crap OS. Gary VanderMolen;714271 Wrote: Quote: > Are you a computer expert? He complained months to GM about how chocolate ice-cream and his car didn't mix but vanilla was ok. To make a long story short. A careful listening technician realized that the chocolate ice-cream line was longer than the vanilla line since it was so popular, and the reason why his car didn't start had to do with elapsed time and not the type of ice-cream he bought. In his case, a vapor lock built up when he go chocolate, but when he came out quickly (vanilla) not enough time elapsed to allow for the lock to develop. So, a lot goes on between 8 and 10 AM. The time may have nothing to do with the problem. But in this case the AV s/w removal definately fixes the problem. We are not saying we all understand exactly why. Even the AV vendors admit there's a problem. Perhaps it's just a config problem. But no one has come by with a better solution yet. When one occurs, we'll be the first to evaluate it and recommend it. There are some very smart people here and see parterns, and offer suggestions with LOTS of scrutiny to keep everyone honest. Positive criticism is always welcome, but outright dismissal without a reasonable eplanation is not helpful. That doesn't mean in every thread an entire explanation can be found. Sometimes the responders get tired explaining things over and over again. You do have to spend some time researching. ...of the box now. I suggest you change the VERY GOOD explanatory approach by using the drive through lines at McDonalds versus at Burger King. Meant as constructive criticism only. :-) Best regards. |
