| | Windows Mail keeps shutting down When I open Windows mail I am able to read messages but after about 45 seconds I get a message that Windows has encountered a problem and has to restart. Very annoying when right in the middle of typing out an email. My program was working fine for a few months and all of a sudden this happens and continues. Virus maybe??? However, you might check if it gives you the option to disable email scanning, and if so, it may help to leave it disabled.
