| | Windows Mail and Windows Security I have a new HP computer with Vista Buisiness. I have set up the user's POP3 mail account. This is an account that worked perfectly well under XP on her old computer. When I start the Windows Mail application, I get a "Windows Security" dialog box asking to verify that the user name and password are correct for the mail server. There is an avatar by the user name feild that is not the correct avatar for the currently loggoed on name. If I enter here email address and password they are "rejected" and I am returned to the Windows Security dialog box. If I enter my email address and password they are accepted and my email is retrieved from the Yahoo mail servers. (I am not even a user on this computer.) It's strange becasue my email is not the one setup in the properties for this acount. I can send screen shots if that will help. -- Chris Breidenbaugh |

Some require you to enter your whole email address, and some require you to leave of the part starting with @. Many require that you use CAPITAL and lowercase letters in the correct places in the password. Also, click on Tools, then Accounts, then the email account, then Properties, then Servers. If you click on Apply after putting the check mark before Remember password, as you usually would after making a change, a quirk in Windows Mail often makes it forget the password. You might try removing the check mark, then clicking Apply, then clicking at the end of the password dots, then backspacing over them, entering the correct password and any approvals needed, clicking Apply, then putting the check mark back before Remember password, but not clicking Apply this time. Click on OK, then Close. |

| | Re: Windows Mail and Windows Security Sounds like an error in either the username or the password. What happens when you access that account via webmail? -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Chris Breidenbaugh" <chrisn0pamatkvaweldingdotcom> wrote in message news:A2140637-2404-408B-BA2D-DD48E9E0D8F4@xxxxxx Quote: >I have a new HP computer with Vista Buisiness.
