Can't send /receive emails

I cannot send/receive emails. When I try I get an error message saying:

Account: 'pop.1and1.co.uk', Server: 'pop.1and1.co.uk', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR authentication failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

All the settings are correct and the 'requires Secure Password
Authentication' isn't ticked. I've also tried deleting the account affected
and resetting it, but that hasn't worked either......

I took a quick look in the 1and1 site but it requires an account to get to
the setup pages. You need to do that and make sure all the details are
taken care of. I would be very surprised if Authentication is not required.

Off-hand I don't see anything wrong with your settings.
There is some troubleshooting advice here:

You might try uninstalling your antivirus to see if that makes a difference.
