can't reply, forward or send attachments

Thought it was all fixed. Changed to CA antivirus. I'm now able to create and
send messages, but can't reply or forward or send attachment.
Do I need to download the file that fixes messages stuck in the outbox? The
symptoms described on the support page are accurate, except I am able to move
messages from my outbox to drafts folder and I can delete messages from my
outbox.
Error message:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'Re: Email issues?', Account: 'pop-server.stny.rr.com',
Server: 'smtp-server.stny.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Re: can't reply, forward or send attachments

No, the Microsoft hotfix does not apply to that error message.
Delete the mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that
account. There may have been some residual corruption from your
previous antivirus.

If that does not fix it, I'd suggest upgrading to Windows Live Mail:

That hotfix is seldom needed unless you have at least one message in some
folder that refuses to move to another folder or delete.

You may want to check if you have the correct setup for a Roadrunner
account:

Does your connection to that server cross over from one internet provider's
equipment to another's before it reaches the server? If so, such
connections
to port 25 are often blocked to cause trouble for spammers.

Re: can't reply, forward or send attachments

Thanks for the link to Windows Live. I'm open to switching. Does it integrate
with Internet Explorer like all previous versions of email from Microsoft? I
couldn't tell from the small screen shots.
My plan is to backup, then delete and recreate my account, but if Live is a
bit more trouble free, I would just change over.

Re: can't reply, forward or send attachments

Thanks for saving me from the hotfix. Wanted to ask here first.
Just checked with RR tech support. They don't block any ports and don't
switch over. I had them check my settings last night and everything is
working when I use their ISP webmail, but I just prefer the MS product so I'm
determined to work this out.

Re: can't reply, forward or send attachments

Not sure what you mean by IE integration.
Upgrading to WLM is painless in that it automatically imports all
your WM accounts, settings, folders and emails. You may have to
import contacts manually but that is easily done. Also, if it turns out
you don't like it, merely uninstall, and WM is back as your default
email program. WLM definitely has fewer bugs and more features
than WM.

RE: can't reply, forward or send attachments

Answer was in Webroot Spysweeper. I found that it was "protecting" from
attachments and had a real time shield on email.

When I think of anitvirus, I don't automatically associate that with
spysweepers, especially when it comes to email.

Re: can't reply, forward or send attachments

Thanks for your feedback. You're not the first one to report a problem
caused by Spysweeper. In general, any third party security program
is potentially a problem maker for Windows Mail.
