    Ican receive,but can't send

My anti-virus is McAfee. I am able to receive e-mails but not sending them. I called my internet provider and they said the settings were fine and maybe something was blocking out-going e-mail. They asked me to contact McAfee, but all I got was on-line support which did a scan and said everything was fine. I still can't send e-mail. Please help. Thank you.
additional infos : I have a Google gmail account and I used it to send an e-mail to myself at my Windows Mail account. The e-mail was sent out OK. So, is that McAfee's problem or Windows Mail's problem?
    More addition infos :
I opened the McAfee and disabled the Internet firewall and I got e-mail sent out ok. But that's not safe , is it? What should I do ? It's the McAfee's own firewall that I disabled, the Windows Firewall is still on.Can I leave it that way ? It was said that more than one firewall protection will conflict with each other. Your advice please.

    Most likely a McAfee problem.
Do you get an error message when you try to send? If so, post
it here for us to analyze.

How did you send from Gmail? If the Gmail account is added to Windows Mail,
and you sent from that, that tells us something. But if you sent from the
    Gmail website, that doesn't.

You should get an error message when you try to send. Please post the
    entire message here.

Gary, I've added more infos to my original post, please read again. Anyway, here is the relevent error message ( according to my internet provider) : ----
    " The host ' smpt.cogeco.ca' could not be found. ---- socket error : 11001, Error Number : 0x800cccod "
According to cogeco, the last number 0x800cccod means someone is blocking out-going e-mail. What's your prognosis ?
Dave, it's from my gmail website.
    Thank you both.

If that is an accurate quote, the server name is wrong.
    It should be smtp.cogeco.ca , not smpt.cogeco.ca.

For me, it helps to think of SMTP as the abbreviation for Simple Mail
Transport Protocol, but that is probably a geek thing. ;-)

Also, you may need to take away the space at the start of the
    server name.

This happened to me. My provider Cox Communications said it was a microsoft
problem. My wife and kids can send email but I can't, however my provider
also stated that since I cannot delete a message from the outbox because it's
possibly corrupted, that is stopping all mail from going out. Still trying
to figure out how to delete that message. Any help on that would be
    appreciated.

Your problem is different, but Microsoft has a fix for that problem:

Yes, it should be 'smtp.cogeco.ca' , but that's just my own silly typo error. Now here is a twist of the original problem. I have 3 accounts. (1) real built-in admin.account. (2) my own admin/standard account. (3) a user account. I can send e-mail out from the first 2 accounts, but not from my user account. I did not put restrictions whatsoever on this account. I found that out just 10 min. ago. Any idea ? And no, no one else has been using my laptop, because I live alone.

Gary, I owe you an apology. I did not take your observation to heart. You pointed out the name error; smtp vs smpt. I just shrugged it off. The fact is when I entered my e-mail account informations, I did mispelled the server name, and I never used this user account for e-mailing untill 3days ago.Meaning I never knew it didn't work. You got me thinking , finally. I checked my account and found the mistake. There is no mystery, just my dumb mistake. Thank you, everyone.
