Deselect the "include this account when checking for new messages" (unless that's something that you want to do) and you should be OK. (Or just delete the Microsoft Communitoes account completely.) |

I deleted Microsoft Communities as suggested but this has not cured the problem for some reason. I have also noticed something else. If I click 'send & receive' when there is nothing in the Outbox, the message comes up, 'connecting to the server' and it behaves much as I would expect. However, if I compose a message and send it to the Outbox by clicking 'send' on the message, then click 'send & receive', nothing happens. The message does not get sent and there is no message about connecting to the server. |
