RE: Can't send using 'send & receive' but will...

Go to "Microsoft Communities" properties and enter a valid email address in
the proper field. Deselect the "include this account when checking for new
messages" (unless that's something that you want to do) and you should be OK.
(Or just delete the Microsoft Communitoes account completely.)

I deleted Microsoft Communities as suggested but this has not cured the problem for some reason. I have also noticed something else. If I click 'send & receive' when there is nothing in the Outbox, the message comes up, 'connecting to the server' and it behaves much as I would expect. However, if I compose a message and send it to the Outbox by clicking 'send' on the message, then click 'send & receive', nothing happens. The message does not get sent and there is no message about connecting to the server.

To make it try to send the message sooner, click on Tools, then Options,
then Send. If there is no check mark in the box before Send messages
immediately, click on this box, then Apply. Click on OK.

Re:Can Send but NOT Receive--Vista Home Premium.

My problem is that I can send but not receive. I checked WebMail and there
are several messages there. All my settings are correct. The error message I
am getting is:

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'woody', Server:
'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error
Number: 0x80004005. My ISP is SBCGLOBAL.net I just updated to SP 1 on
March 19.

Re: Can Send but not Receive

AVG can cause problems if it was installed using the default install option.
Uninstall it, then test Windows Mail again to confirm that the problem is gone.
Then reinstall AVG using the custom install option, which allows
you to forego installation of the mail scanning module.
