| | New wireless e-mail HELP I just bought a new Sony Vaio, wireless, laptop. Was told setup was easy as pie. Well, once I got home I found that I had to purchase an additional "wireless router" before I would be truly "wireless" where my laptop was concerned. So off to Wal-Mart (bought a Belkin) because I need my computer working by Sunday since we're leaving for a convention and I need to be able to access e-mails from home while I'm gone. My problem is that now that I've gone in and set up my e-mail information on the wireless I cannot get the computers to talk to each other. I cannot retrieve my e-mails from my main computer. I can send e-mails from the wireless but can receive them only if the sender is "replying" to the e-mail sent from the wireless. What have I done wrong? And how to I retrieve e-mails from home on my wireless when I'm away? AT&T was reluctant to help because I didn't buy their router. My connection was broken before I could get any real help. Anybody have an answer? Thanks, Sue |

You can connect to another WiFi connection (Router) - (Hot Spot) while away, or use a cell phone as a modem, or connect for mail via your cell phone directly via a GPRS connection. Most of the above will be found in your Cell phone user guide. The best way to get mail while away is to log on to your mail server's website, http://my.att.net https://webauth.att.net/auth/webmail...095D2223064702 But before leaving home go to your mail account settings and configure it to leave mail on the server for at least the duration of your trip. This whole thing that you are trying to do is not easy! You do not get mail from your main PC, it comes from the AT&T server, to receive mail on more than one PC you need to set both PC's to leave messages on the server at AT&T, ------- tools>accounts>select your account>properties>advanced tab. Also set one of the PC's to delete from server after a reasonable number of days. Have fun on your trip and forget email until you get home :-)) Use SMS text messages? -- Regards Steve.
