windows mail vista home prem. error sending

I am getting a similar error to others when sending on windows mail
0x800cc19. I tried setting the SMTP to 587 and enabling server
authentification. It did not work. I am using verizon. I don't like using
the ISP version of mail and would really like to be able to send again.
Thanks.

Re: windows mail vista home prem. error sending

Thanks Robert, but their website has not been helpful. I am set up
correctly. I have been using Vista home prem. for over a year with the
windows mail and at the beginning of March of this year is when this problem
started, out of the blue. No where on verizon's web site have I found any
useful information.

Re: windows mail vista home prem. error sending

Your settings look fine. However, there should have been a sentence
or two at the start of the error message, such as "A timeout occurred
while communicating with the SMTP server." Without that information
I will make an educated guess and predict that you are running
non-compatible security software from McAfee or Norton.
As a test, uninstall that security software, reboot, then try Windows
Mail again.

Re: windows mail vista home prem. error sending

I removed the software (Trend Micro Internet Security), re-booted, and still
get the send error. I am going to re-install the virus protection. I might
mention, also, I have been running windows mail for a year and then March 1
2008 it stopped sending.

Re: windows mail vista home prem. error sending

Problems in Windows Mail caused by antivirus programs often take months
to show up.

A recent version of the Trend antivirus program (details not available) is
also known to cause problems in Windows Mail.

Re: windows mail vista home prem. error sending

By "removed" I hope you mean you used the proper uninstall utility
instead of just deleting the program from the C:\Program Files
folder.

Your error message ("...unexpectedly terminated...") almost always
means interference from a third party security program.

If all else fails, try upgrading to Windows Live Mail:
