| | Re: deleting contacts from recipient list. I don't know about the OP, but there's adifference between contacts and recipients in the "To" field of Windows Mail - mine contains some wrongly typed or old email addresses that have no contact saved for them - how can I delete them please? thanks "Keith Miller (MVP)" wrote: Quote: > Open your Contacts folder (in your UserName folder) and delete them from > there. > > -- > Good Luck, > > Keith > Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] > > > > "Alicat" <alicat51@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:6B5560E5-4FB1-4C35-8F7E-1338DE1B376D@xxxxxx Quote: > > Can someone tell me how to delete contacts from the recipient list. This is > > the list that comes up when creating new mail, when you click on "to"in the > > new email. When I remove alll details after clicking on properties > > "unknown"is > > left behind.I now have a huge list of "unknowns" in my recipient list. > > Thanks. > > -- > > Alison Woodley > |

| | Re: deleting contacts from recipient list. The auto-complete in Windows Mail just doesn't work correctly. It keeps a separate list of the last 29 addresses you've typed in, including bad ones. This list is kept in the registry (in binary). HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Recently Used Addresses This is one of the features that works properly in the newer Windows Live Mail. -- Vista Home Premium 32 SP1 http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview "Jon" <Jon@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:50BCA816-BD7A-471F-B4EB-EF3A204CD2E0@xxxxxx Quote: > I don't know about the OP, but there's adifference between contacts and > recipients in the "To" field of Windows Mail - mine contains some wrongly > typed or old email addresses that have no contact saved for them - how can > I > delete them please? > > thanks > > "Keith Miller (MVP)" wrote: > Quote: >> Open your Contacts folder (in your UserName folder) and delete them from >> there. >> >> -- >> Good Luck, >> >> Keith >> Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] >> >> >> >> "Alicat" <alicat51@xxxxxx> wrote in message >> news:6B5560E5-4FB1-4C35-8F7E-1338DE1B376D@xxxxxx Quote: >> > Can someone tell me how to delete contacts from the recipient list. This >> > is >> > the list that comes up when creating new mail, when you click on "to"in >> > the >> > new email. When I remove alll details after clicking on properties >> > "unknown"is >> > left behind.I now have a huge list of "unknowns" in my recipient list. >> > Thanks. >> > -- >> > Alison Woodley >> |

| | Re: deleting contacts from recipient list. If you are comfortable with editing the registry, you can delete the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Recently Used Addresses -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "Jon" <Jon@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:50BCA816-BD7A-471F-B4EB-EF3A204CD2E0@xxxxxx Quote: >I don't know about the OP, but there's adifference between contacts and > recipients in the "To" field of Windows Mail - mine contains some wrongly > typed or old email addresses that have no contact saved for them - how can I > delete them please? > > thanks |
