New Individual/Group Contacts in Windows Mail

I'm sure I must be doing something wrong, but I have Windows Mail on a
laptop using Vista. It works fine, but all of a sudden, I can't fine how to
add a new contact or group. I think I recall it being pretty easy and self
explanatory before, so I think I must have some hidden files somewhere.
However, I tried everything I can think of. Any suggestions?

John

(boilerplate reply).....

When you have the Contacts folder open, you should have a button on the
toolbar for "New Contact" and "New Contact Group". If you don't see these
buttons, perhaps the
folder template got changed, as it sometimes does...
Right-click on a blank area of the right pane, and select "Customize this
folder"
in the pull-down box, select "Contacts"
OK

Dave,

Thanks so much. It worked perfect. However, I would have never figured this
out without your help.

Thanks again,
John

Re: New Individual/Group Contacts in Windows Mail

You're welcome.
Vista has a tendency to change a folder's template, based on what files it
sees inside.
It doesn't always see 20/20.

Re: New Individual/Group Contacts in Windows Mail

I'm having a similar issue. However, I DO have those two buttons - New
Contact and New Contact Group. When I click on either one (and also
Export and Import), I just hear a little bell sound and nothing
happens - nothing! This is so frustrating. I hope someone can help.

(It's a newer Toshiba laptop with Vista Home Premium).

Thanks!

Regards,
Michelle

Do you have a program with SMS in it's name installed? If so, give us
its full name.

Whay if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of them tend to
cause assorted problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

If you have the Google Toolbar program installed, uninstall it.
