Vista - saving attachments takes forever

I have reached the point where I have to forward all my emails with
attachments to a program other than Window's Mail in order to save them
without having to vacuum the living room while I wait for Vista to save the
attachments. It does not appear to be related to the size of the
attachment. A 5 kb attachment still takes up to a minute to save. Has anyone
discovered a work around.

Does anyone know when they will release a version of this system that might
work for Word and for Mail? It looks nice, but that is about all I can say
for it.

Also, are you running an antivirus program and an antispyware program
regularly? If not, that often helps as well.

How much RAM memory do you have? Many cheap PCs come with
small amounts such as 512 MB, which slows down Vista. Vista runs
better with 2 GB or more.

I've heard of an hotfix that speeds up Windows Mail, but someone else
will have to tell you where to find it.

Microsoft seems to have stopped producing updates for Windows
Mail, and is now putting most of their email effort toward a newer
email program, Window Live Mail.

It can take over any accounts Windows Mail can handle, in addition
to adding the ability to add some of the HTTP accounts Windows
Mail cannot handle.

Make sure you have any antivirus software not set to scan email (see
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3). That could be what is delaying things. Also
clear your Temporary Internet Files and see if that helps at all.
