Accounts are ignored during mail retrieval

I have 17 accounts in Windows Mail.

When I first start up WM, and go to retrieve mail,. all accounts work fine.

But then any subsequent attempt to retrieve mail, and the process ignores
the first two accounts.

No errors, no message. It's just listed along with the others, but blank in
the status column. And no errors reported either.

So then if I exit WM and start over, it works fine again... for that first
time. And then it's back to the same problem.

What could be causing this?

Regards,
Chuck Billow

Re: Accounts are ignored during mail retrieval

Click on Tools, then Accounts, then one of those accounts, then Properties.
If there is no check mark in the box before Include this account when
receiving mail or synchronizing, click on that box, then Apply. Click
on OK. Then do the same for the other of those accounts. Click on
Close.

Re: Accounts are ignored during mail retrieval

I did check that and they're both set to "include this..."

That's what I had thought as well... but they're both set to be included.

Re: Accounts are ignored during mail retrieval

Then there may be a limit on how many accounts Windows Mail can
handle well for a single user, that most of us don't see because few of
us have that many accounts.

You might see if it helps to set up a second Vista user account,
then transfer about half the email accounts to the other Vista user
account.

Re: Accounts are ignored during mail retrieval

Robert:

I may try that...

At the moment I've come across something else, but related:

I decided to take a look at6 Windows Live Mail... and guess what?

After I installed it, it went ahead and, I guess, imported my contacts from
BOTH Hotmail AND Windows Mail!

I went through and deleted all my Live Contacts, and, when I started up Live
Mail again, same thing happened.

Isn't there a way to have me just import the info I want, and not
*everything* from *everywhere*?

For a nickel right now I'd go back to XP and Outlook Express!

I use Outlook as my main client, but I do rely on (OE? Windows Mail?
Windows Live Mail?

I never had ANY of this with OE...

So now.....

Chuck

So now, instead of some 697 contacts I've got 1400 + !

What the hey?!

Re: Accounts are ignored during mail retrieval

The number 32 has been bandied about, since that was the limit in OE.
Haven't seen any hard evidence either way. I have 10 accounts.

Re: Accounts are ignored during mail retrieval

If you don't want your Hotmail contacts shared with WLM, do this
in WLM: Tools, Options, Connection, "Stop signing in".
You could get a new Hotmail account and use that for signing in.
The advantage is that if you ever have a hard drive crash or similar
disaster, you will still have an up-to-date list of Contacts in Hotmail.
I don't use my Hotmail account for anything else.

Re: Accounts are ignored during mail retrieval

Gary:

Thanks for the help.

Now I wish I could just find a way to make the fonts for the folders in WLM
darker.. like you can in WM...

RE: Accounts are ignored during mail retrieval

Somewhere in this I lost my place... and never did figure out why my accounts
in Windows Mail are being ignored during mail retrieval....

No errors, no messages... nothing.

It just runs through the retrieval and the accounts sit there with the
Status column blank.

??
