With Outlook Express not running on your computer, find the .wab file and
copy
it to a directory on the hard drive of your laptop. Make sure the copy is
read-write,
instead of readonly, as some copying methods leave the copied files. Start
Windows Mail, then click on Tools, then Windows Contacts. If you don't see
Import on the toolbar of the new window, stop and ask for help putting it
there.
If you do, click on Import, then Windows Address Book File (Outlook Express
contacts), then Import, then find the .wab file copy and click on it. Click
on
Close, then close the Contacts windows.
Thanks Robert, that's great. And like everything, easy when you know how!!!!

I have a similar question. I want to transfer a group list into Windows Mail
from Comcast. Comcast can export it via CSV, and Windows Mail can import a
CSV file, but will it import as a group list?

No. This has been a much requested feature, but I'm not aware of
any CSV import that will preserve group information.

I don't have an older machine to check. See if these instructions for
transferring the messages suggest a useful place to look for it.
