| Guest | An unknown error has occurred. ... Error Number: 0x80090024 What I have 1. I'm using DSL to sbcglobal.net 2. The July build of Vista Ultimate on a home brew box (that had been fine as an SBS 2003 server until I shut that down. The only change I had to make was to get a much more expensive video card. The previous card couldn't show the icons in the upper left corner and looked like the screen was broken out in measles - little red dots all over the place. $120 cured the disease:-) 3. A 3 rating on the Vista Scale. (1GB memory) What works. 1. I communicate with the 'net just great. 2. Agent Forte 4.0 communicates with mail.microsoft.com just great so far. (Haven't posted a message yet.) 3.Webmail downloads headers OK from mail.microsoft.com - at least for this forum. That's all Ive tried. What fails 1.If I try to fetch the bodies of posings Webmail gets the shakes and never finishes. By shakes I mean that "Rate this post" flickers rapidly and the status bar flickers. 2. Here's the real problem. When I try to download from either a Powweb.com hosted pop3 server (great folk incidentally tremendous value for the money) or gmail via a pop3, i get the following error: An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'pop3.xxxx.com', Server: 'pop3.xxxxx.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x80090024 What Microsoft says: 1. When I kill the newsgroup reading, it goes through the error processing and gives me Error fixed in Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 (RC1) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for participating in the Windows Vista beta program and sending an error report. Problem description Microsoft has reviewed this error report and determined that this problem will be fixed in Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 (RC1). Solution Install Windows VistaRelease Candidate 1 (RC1) when it is available later this year. For more information about how to obtain updated versions of Windows Vista, refer to the documentation included with your Beta kit or go to the following website: 3. When I attempt to send I get an message that is useless when I hit the send button. It offers to take me to forums, and nothing there. Ditto when I attempt to save the message that I tried to send. Suggests please. Or is Webmail out to lunch until RC1 I sure hope not. Webmail is the basis of what I plan to do for development. | Guest | Re: An unknown error has occurred. ... Error Number: 0x80090024 Since I posted I've done some additional sanity checks. I configured Fort Agent to act as an email program. It worked great on the reading side. Ergo, I conclude 1. I know how to configure an email program correctly. 2. The stack from my mail provider through my ISP and right up to the email program is working. 3. Webmail is a suck puppy. Any one care to make any suggestions. Regards, Al .... | Guest | Re: An unknown error has occurred. ... Error Number: 0x80090024 What is WebMail you keep referring to? Are you talking about Hotmail? Any webmail programs normally use IE, so you need to discuss that in an IE forum. This is for Vista Windows Mail. steve "Al Christoph" <al@3bears.biz> wrote in message news:qejcf25sq9d7c8g2bojq1hmq53p5jobl1m@4ax.com... > Since I posted I've done some additional sanity checks. > > I configured Fort Agent to act as an email program. | Guest | Re: An unknown error has occurred. ... Error Number: 0x80090024 Good question. That's what I get for posting late at night. I meant to say WindowsMail. Please accept my apologiies. I've also figured out that I'm on the July Beta 2 bits 5384 And unless some suggests otherwise I'm about to upgrade to the August CPT. | Guest | Re: An unknown error has occurred. ... Error Number: 0x80090024 You may be better off waiting for the release of RC1 rather than using the August CTP.
