trouble posting to Communities - port 119 - error

that's awesome, I had no idea that existed.

For some reason, trying to post to MS Communities today was broken in my WLMail,
and I tried all the fixes that had been posted, but none worked. I finally read
in a post from some months ago that the MS Communities server may just be acting
oddly temporarily, so I set everything in Tool > Options back to normal and sure
enough after about 3 hours today I was able to post again.

Thanks for the heads up on the public.test location!!

Tim

Re: trouble posting to Communities - port 119 - error

It may have been something else. For about 5 hours this morning
I was unable to post or download messages from any newsgroup
on the msnews.microsoft.com server.
That is the actual network name for the Communities server.
The server was not responding on port 119, even via telnet.
As a workaround I used my ISP's NNTP server to access this newsgroup.
Did anyone else experience a service interruption? Since I saw little or
no comment here, I assumed it was a local (Bay area) problem.

Re: trouble posting to Communities - port 119 - error

I saw a service interruption earlier today, but only for about one hour.
The replies I wrote piled up in the Outbox for that long and
caused error messages every time Windows Mail tried to upload
them. I'm in northern Alabama.

Re: trouble posting to Communities - port 119 - error

It appears the OP resides in Florida, so perhaps the outage was
more widespread than I thought.

Re: trouble posting to Communities - port 119 - error

Yesterday (4/15) afternoon we had an interruption for about an hour or two
in Ohio.
