Vista - Applets

Don't mean to be redundant but I have read & re-read Richard Eagle's reply
regarding applets freezing WM up. I am a Stationery maker (don't do applets
though) & belong to an active Stationery Group. I am now in possession of 2
of these 'headaches' in my mail. I've read the article Richard referenced
regarding the old Java. I have Sun Java on here & I am using Vista. I've
had 20 yrs of experience with computers but for some reason I am not able to
grasp Richard's explanation. First of all, I'd really like to get these 2
applet's out of WM & then, if Richard would, try explainng to me what he's
stated before. I'm sorry.

I'm not part of the Microsoft team, but rather attracted to every thing
related to stationery;
that's why I looked for Richard Eagle's reply on the Net for you. Have a

I've had Vista for 8 days now. . . I preferred XP with OE, of course, for
its compatibility
with stationery. Right now, the only problem left for me to solve, is to
get those filters' .DLL
on the hard disk, Windows, dear System32 !!!!!!!

I deal with Vista as with a disturbed teenager with problems . . . . I
expect its bad behavior and
sudden reactions, waiting and hoping Microsoft will make it grow up with a
much better
version. Vista is so unstable, just cannot believe what it does when I'm
facing it .

Microsoft has apparantly stopped producing updates for Windows
Mail, but not admitted that it's no longer supported. They've
offered a newer email/newsreader program, Windows Live Mail,
that can take over any accounts Windows Mail can handle, in
addition to adding the capability to have some types of HTTP
accounts such as Hotmail.

If you want to ask how it handles stationery, you can probably get

I don't think it has any of the capabilities OE and Winmail have in terms of
what one can do creatively with stationery. I don't think you can even edit
the HTML code of the messages.

WM. I do not like having the Messenger feature on it. I think one should be
able to keep some things private & there should be an option for whether you
want it there or not without it being dictated to you by MS. I have
submitted a "form" to WML support asking them if an alternative to it that I
suggested would work. No answer as yet. Really aggrevating when one has done
Stats for years.

fun out of sending a neat stat to someone who uses those services! I build

codes for the messages in the mail. In the years of doing Stats I've only
used it to see if there is an error on someones stat that comes thru with an

Anita, I haven't checked this thread in more than a month so I may not
understand the question. Are you saying that you have 2 applet stationery
emails in your Windows Mail inbox and you cannot delete them?

As for Vista Windows Mail and stationery, it works fine for me. I can embed
EOTs and flash, use the metacreations filters, etc. and use stationery
scripts just like in OE. I tried a beta version of WLM last year and found
it useless for advanced stationery. Maybe it's improved now, I don't know.
I'll have to try it again in the future and see.
