They are .dbx files. Thanks, Lynne that contain email? If so, create a directory on your new hard drive and copy them all to this directory. Make sure the .dbx files are all read-write, not readonly. Then start Windows Mail, click on File, then Import, then Messages, then Microsoft Outlook Express 6, then Next, then go on from there. |

| | Re: .dbx files You have the correct programs. <VBG> DBXpress (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) will extract messages from just about any size dbx file (DBXtract chokes on large files) and then the messages can be dragged into WinMail folders just as eml files in OE. OEX (www.oehelp.com/OEX/) has many features and works both in OE and WinMail (except 64 bit at the moment) and will allow the users to point to a non-corrupt dbx file (unless its huge) and import the messages from it directly to the WinMail folders. The dbx file does not have to be read-only; folders.dbx is not required, and the import can occur across a network. steve "vanilla" <vanilla@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uWGsN2SoIHA.3376@xxxxxx Quote: > Don't remember about DBExtract but I use OEX and DBExpress in Vista ... > vanilla > Quote: >> Doesn't DBXtract work in Vista? >> http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx >> >> -- >> Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) > "Gary VanderMolen" <gary@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:uYDrQVLoIHA.4328@xxxxxx Quote: >> <robertmiles@xxxxxx> wrote in message >> news:ODdUrnJoIHA.2064@xxxxxx Quote: >>> >>> "Gordon" <gbplinux@xxxxxx> wrote in message >>> news:fu7l3s$rsh$1@xxxxxx >>>> <robertmiles@xxxxxx> wrote in message >>>> news:%23xePoJJoIHA.3960@xxxxxx >>>>> >>>>> "Gordon" <gbplinux@xxxxxx> wrote in message >>>>> news:fu7fpk$tg1$1@xxxxxx >>>>>> <robertmiles@xxxxxx> wrote in message >>>>>> news:Ouwb1WIoIHA.2188@xxxxxx >>>>>>> >>>>>>> "Lynne" <lynne@xxxxxx> wrote in message >>>>>>> news:Oa4$L9HoIHA.3900@xxxxxx >>>>>>>>I have the 'saved' emails off of my old hard drive from my Outlook >>>>>>>>Express's 'inbox', outbox', etc. on a disk , but I don't know how to >>>>>>>>get them into my new Windows Mail. They are .dbx files. Thanks, Lynne After having tried various of methods without improvement, you can have a try to use special utility to repair your Outlook Express dbx file. I know one, called Advanced Outlook Express Repair. Fortunately , It worked rather well for my corrupt Outlook Express dbx files last time. I think it may be helpful to you. You can download it from the following address .Its web address is http://www.datanumen.com/aoer/ Alan |
