Vista Tutorial - Cannot open attachments in Windows Mail

I have had Vista for about a year, and the following intermittent fault has just re-appeared. This generally seems to happen after a Microsoft security updates... Attachments of any type in incoming emails cannot be opened. One click on them and the program crashes.

This has happened several times over the last 12 months and previously seemed to sort itself out in a day or two - god knows how, because i had nothing to do with it - i always suspected another update undoing whatever had been done...

However, this time it is not sorting itself out and I'm getting tired with having to copy attachments from trusted sources to other parts of my laptop so that I can open them.

I use Norton 360 security. I don't use Outlook because my Office 2000 version didn't seem to agree with Vista very well when i tried to install it, so I opted for using what was already there.

Norton is likely the problem and the only solution is to get rid of it. See
