Re: Error Number: 0X800CCC0D

b is not a valid server name. When you get the proper server name,
probably from your email provider, click on Tools, then Accounts,
then account b, then Properties, then Servers. Click at the end of the
server name you want to change, then backspace over it, then type
the correct server name, then click Apply. If you need to change the
other server name, do it the same way. Click on OK, then Close.

Re: Error Number: 0X800CCC0D

Your mail provider will have online instructions for how to set up
email, including the correct server name. Who is your email provider?

Re: Error Number: 0X800CCC0D

My error message is:
The host 'smtp.tool.sky.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have
entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Server: 'smtp.tool.sky.com',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 11001, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0D

The 'only' thing I have not tried is to uninstall my (McAfee)
antivirus/firewall, in case that is holding back my ability to send.
Receiving is no problem in my Windows Mail. The problem was not always there.
It came up a couple of weeks ago.

What is your advice?

Thanks, John Forbat

Re: Error Number: 0X800CCC0D

See if this helps you find the correct server names:

http://www.sky.com/Assets/PDF/StaticFiles/720010.pdf

<http://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyhelpcentre/skyonline?nodeId=e029cc9c-6e22-4418-84bf-f57631d43f9c&articleId=2896810>

If you can't open .pdf files, install Adobe Reader:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

<http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/236/1/Unable-to-open-PDF-attachments-from-Windows-Mail.html>

Don't install the Google Toolbar program unless you want to see
more problems in Windows Mail.

Re: Error Number: 0X800CCC0D

Change the outgoing server name to smtp.tools.sky.com
(instead of smtp.tool.sky.com).

Re: Error Number: 0X800CCC0D

Dear Gary,

Did you see my reply of 30 April, giving the full text of the error message?

Since then, I uninstalled my McAfee programs to see if they were impeding
the sending of Emails from Windows Mail, but NO, no difference. I have of
course reinstalled McAfee. I am still able to receive, but not send with
Windows Mail.

By the number of similar pleas and complaints on this site, it seems that
there is a fundal problem with Windows Mail/VISTA, which only Microsoft could
possible cure. If I correctly understand your Microsoft title, you should be
advise me - hopefully indicate what is being done at Microsoft, to cure the
problem.

I would really appreciate an answer - perhaps direct to me at
j.forbat@xxxxxx.

Thanks,

Re: Error Number: 0X800CCC0D

Robert,

To Robert Miles: Your comment, not to install the Google tool bar just
caught my attention. The Windows Mail problem did appear to come with the
time when Sky began to use Google in its website. However I don't think I had
any option but to install this Google tool bar along with the Sky set up.

Do you have any comments?
