Separate email accounts in Vista for wife & me

Ok. I now own Vista and I'm trying to recreate the mail experience I had on my XP pc. My wife and I both have separate email accounts with our ISP and in XP Outlook Express we set up two identities so that our mail was separate.

When we opened up Outlook Express we were able to select which identity we wanted to operate under. This was perfect !

In Vista we log in to the pc using a single account and that's how we want to keep it.

Is it really impossible to have segregated email accounts in Vista ?????????

I've seen hints that Live Mail, which is apparently new, allows this but none of the documentation is very clear. Can I accomplish my goal with Live Mail ?

Thank you for any advice you can offer,
Andy

You're likely to get better answers for Windows Live Mail if you ask in the
newsgroup meant for it:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

Re: Separate email accounts in Vista for wife & me

(boilerplate reply)

Windows Mail puts email from all accounts into the same Inbox, and there's
no setting to change that. When you send a message, you can select which
account to send from, by clicking on the From: box.

Here are a few alternatives...

1. Create folders for each email account and create message rules to move
email addressed to each account into the appropriate folder.

2. Create and use different Windows Users, each with WM accessing only
their email account. (This is how you set a password to keep other users
out.)

3. Use the newer Windows Live Mail which has separate folders for each
account, but no identities or password:

4. Purchase WMIDs which adds identities to WM

My WMIDs program will segregate the message store between the two of you as
in OE. See www.oehelp.com/WMIDs/

Thank you Steve.
1) I also own Office 2003 which I will be installing on Vista. Office comes with Outlook. Would Outlook have what I need?
2) Is your software certified and/or approved by Microsoft?

Re: Separate email accounts in Vista for wife & me

Thank you Steve. Some follow-up questions:
1) does your WMID thing also work with the Windows LIVE Mail also?
2) I also own Office XP (and 2003) which have Outlook. Do those have the identity features I require?
I'm not trying to avoid spending $15 - I just want to do what's smart and most contemporary.

Re: Separate email accounts in Vista for wife & me

Andy, you're more likely to get an answer to whether Outlook offers
such a feature if you ask in a newsgroup meant for Outlook, such as:

microsoft.public.outlook.general

Re: Separate email accounts in Vista for wife & me

Does re-installing Outlook allow you to set up identities? I tried
contacting my ISP provider to see, they sent me to a Microsoft site that
since I just bought this computer with VISTA pre-installed, they sent me to
HP or offered to help me for a fee!. I have an opportunity to purchase MS
Office 2007 thru my employer for $20 and would like to know if anyone knows
if that will enable me to separate identities again before I order it. Does
anyone know?
