| | HELP!: importing/exporting contacts I would like to export my contacts from my computer to my second computer. Both computers use Windows Mail. I tried exporting the contacts as CSV and vCard files. Using both methods, I was able to import my contacts into my second computer but they weren't neatly organized in files: i.e. business contacts, personal contacts, family, etc. Is there a way to export my contacts so they are still in the correct files and are neatly organized? Wouldn't it be nice! |

| | Re: HELP!: importing/exporting contacts The export/import process seems to lose the group membership information. Since both computers use Windows Mail, try this: Navigate to C:\Users\YourUsername\Contacts . Copy the whole Contacts folder to a flash drive, then carry that over to the other computer and replace its Contacts folder. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (WLMail) "josie" <josie@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:B49D8853-3296-48EF-A30A-DB33E420AFA0@xxxxxx Quote: >I would like to export my contacts from my computer to my second computer. > Both computers use Windows Mail. Should I export my contacts in the CVS format? or vCard format? What is really the difference between the two? Thanx for your help!! | | Re: HELP!: importing/exporting contacts Having trouble introducing the Contacts and Folders from my old box (with MS Outlook 2000) to my new box (with Vista MS Mail). I was able to get most of the folders off MS Outlook (except Inbox and Folders with pics) onto a disc in .dbx files but can't seem to import to my new MS Mail. Any suggestions...?? - I still have both boxes running. | | Re: HELP!: importing/exporting contacts If you don't get all the .dbx files, including those which don't contain any messages, you're likely to have trouble importing them. If there are missing files, you can produce replacements that at least allow you to import the files you have by setting up an Outlook Express account on your old computer that has the same list of folders and at least one message in each of these folders. Also, Windows Mail sometimes has trouble importing .dbx files that are anywhere but in a directory on the hard drive of the same computer, or are readonly instead of read-write. Put all the .dbx files in the same directory, and tell Windows Mail to import the whole directory, instead of specific .dbx files. I assume that you produced the .dbx files by first importing the messages from Outlook to Outlook Express on your old computer. If not, try that. This should also produce a .wab file containing your old contacts; bring that across too. <http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/email/import-dbx-files-outlook-express-windows-mail-vista-86458.html> "DanB" <DanB@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:9B04346A-5EBA-422B-AED7-6E03C66AC788@xxxxxx Quote: > Having trouble introducing the Contacts and Folders from my old box (with > MS > Outlook 2000) to my new box (with Vista MS Mail). | | RE: HELP!: importing/exporting contacts I have used YMLP (YMLP.COM) to send out my weekly newsletter for many years. I am now using vista. From YMLP i am trying to import my contacts but cannot seem to do it. I cannot seem to select the entire contact list using the shift button, but only one contact at a time. any ideas? HP who is supposed help with any software problems for 90 days of an hp computer using msn products but will only say it is a limitation in windows mail.......seems very improbable..... rdc "josie" wrote: Quote: > I would like to export my contacts from my computer to my second computer. > Both computers use Windows Mail.
