Windows Mail Error

I am running Vista Home Premium with Windows Mail. My problem is that Windows Mail stops interacting with Windows and drops the internet connection.
Any suggestions since requesting a solution from submitted problems does not provide an answer?

Does it produce any error messages when it does so? If so, right click
on them and copy the entire error messages to your next message.

Also, many problems in Windows Mail are caused by interference
from an antivirus program, antispyware program, or antispam program.
What if any of those programs do you have, and have you ever had
a Norton or McAfee antivirus program installed on that machine?

This is the message that I am getting. This machine came equipped with Norton which I have removed and am using AVG now. Windows Defender is turned off.

For Norton, did you uninstall it, not just disable it or delete the
shortcuts to
it? Did you then run this cleanup program often needed after its uninstall
program leaves too much behind?

Did you do a standard install for AVG? If so, it often helps to uninstall
it, then
do a custom install where you tell it to leave out the part that scans
email.

After either of these changes, it can help to remove your email account
under
Windows Mail, then restart Windows Mail and add the account again.

Also, check if you have the Google Toolbar program installed (not some
webpage that offers a Google search). If you do, uninstall it.

Check if you have any programs installed with SMS in their names. If so,
give us their full names.

Re: Windows Mail Error

Everything seems fine now that I have removed Norton using their removal tool.
Thanks to everyone that replied. There are some great tips to keep in mind.

Re: Windows Mail Error

Thanks for providing another confirmation that merely uninstalling
Norton is often not sufficient.
