windows Vista goes into a coma

During inactivity my computer goes to sleep, actually it goes into a coma and
can’t be awoken until I turn it off. And not by just turning it off at the
switch, I have to unplug it and then restart it. At that point I get this
message: The last attempt to resume the system from its previous location
failed. Attempt to resume again? And then I have two choices; continue with
system restore, or delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu.
The second choice is the only one that works. Why is my computer going into a
coma, and how can I fix it? HELP!

You might want to check and reset your Power Setting Options. Also, some
third-party screen savers (if you are using any) can also conflict and cause
    problems like you have described.

Thanks for your quick reply and your suggestion. I have just changed my power
saving options to "high performance", but am concerned that this may not be
the problem because I am using a destop, not a laptop on battery power. It
won't take long to find out, however, and I appreciate your feedback!

If all else fails, set your power options to Hibernate instead of Sleep.

You should also contact support at whoever manufactured your system.
This may require a driver update that doesn't come from MS.

Sounds to me like your PC has much more serious issues than simple
power settings. If it is still under warranty, take it back to the seller for
    repairs, or else reinstall Vista.
