| | Re: Default mail client not installed properly!!1 Just because an email program is designated as 'default' does not mean that all possible default protocols have been assigned to it. Do this: Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item: "Set your default programs." After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on Windows Mail. If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults" then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "duffers" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:48d25f4d4f625772c4c5a98becd14f93@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | | Re: Default mail client not installed properly!!1 For continuity, please quote the message you are replying to. Are you clicking on Send from inside the Crimson Editor program or are you clicking on a MailTo link on a web page? If the former, it may be a situation where that program is not fully compatible with Vista. Can you copy and paste that form into Windows Mail? -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "duffers" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:c8802e937f6b273a22e56e24f3128be1@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | | Re: Default mail client not installed properly!!1 Some older programs are not fully functional in Vista. A prime example is Microsoft's own Office XP (2002). According to http://www.crimsoneditor.com the latest version was issued in 2004, so obviously it wasn't designed for Vista compatibility. Does that program have a users forum or are you able to consult with fellow users to see if anyone has come up with a workaround? -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "duffers" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:2741752cf7020b0b27ae3a82f540a014@xxxxxx-gateway.com... | | Re: Default mail client not installed properly!!1 If the MailTo protocol is missing, try this: Open the Default Programs applet. Click "Set program access and computer defaults." Click Custom, and select Windows Mail. Click OK. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "Merseymike" <Merseymike.3a6r4i@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:Merseymike.3a6r4i@xxxxxx-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... | | Re: Default mail client not installed properly!!1 That didn't work but I then found that it was actually a missing registyry value - and added in the edited code from another thread here! It worked... -- Merseymike Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
