| | Multiple email users I just got off the phone with cox.net and got my account and my wife's account for email...the problem is that they are merged together. I am trying to figure out how to seperate them so we have individual accounts. HP wants to charge me for technical assistance which is silly... Can anyone help me with this action? |

Create a folder with your wife's name THEN create a rule which will route her E-Mail to that folder. Gene K |

Create a new user account for her - Control Panel - Add or remove user accounts. Then she can log on as herself and have her own email setup. -- ---------------- Stubbo of Oz ---------------- |

| | Re: Multiple email users You have four options. 1. Use different Windows Users logins. This will give complete privacy. 2. Use message rules to filter incoming messages into separate folders. 3. Use Windows Live Mail which has separate folders for each account. No rules needed. http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview 4. Purchase an add-on called WMIDs: http://www.oehelp.com/WMIDs -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "David Anderson" <stentman@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23o$897TwIHA.5124@xxxxxx Quote: >I just got off the phone with cox.net and got my account and my wife's > account for email...the problem is that they are merged together. | | Re: Multiple email users Winston and Gary, I do have separate VISTA user accounts for myself and my wife, but I am receiving messages for her in my Win Mail view when I am the user logged on and she is receiving my messages in her Win Mail view when she is logged into her user account. What am I doing wrong? FIOS is our provider. -Michael "Gary VanderMolen" <Gary@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23V710rUwIHA.3860@xxxxxx You have four options. 1. Use different Windows Users logins. | | RE: Multiple email users I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you wrote the e-mail accounts are merged together - unless you are saying you and wife are using the same e-mail account with Cox. If that is the case, simply setup another e-mail address via Cox then add that to Windows Mail Account section. If you and wife already have 2 separate e-mail accounts via Cox then you can go to Tools | Message Rules | Mail and setup rules to distinguish between the two accounts sending the mail to the corresponding folders you have created (or will create). If privacy is an issue between you and wife, then you will need to use separate logons in Windows and set Windows Mail with the unique mail account info per user - logon to yours and setup Mail then logon as wife and setup her Mail. | | RE: Multiple email users I can't find where I posted my question so I'll ask it here. I set windows mail to read Comcast mail and require a password. That is fine but when you open windows mail all the old mail is right there for anyone to open and read. You can't receive new mail without the password but all the old items are accessable. Outlook Express did not show the e mails until I signed in. Only difference was that I had 4 identities then but only one now with windows mail. Any helpis appreciated. Thanks Pete "BehavioralCounselor" wrote: Quote: > I'm not exactly sure what you mean when you wrote the e-mail accounts are > merged together - unless you are saying you and wife are using the same > e-mail account with Cox. | | RE: Multiple email users Windows Mail does not support different Identities. If you have more than yourself using the computer and you are wanting privacy, then you need to use different logon names/passwords for each user on the machine and then setup the mail account corresponding to the logged in user. | | RE: Multiple email users Thanks. Now when I open windows nmail and click on identities it does say just what you are saying and going on to say the security is better. But I sure am going to miss not having to sign in as a seperate user each time. Pete "BehavioralCounselor" wrote: Quote: > Windows Mail does not support different Identities.
