sending e-mails, and adding new account

Like lots of others, I was having problems sending e-mails. i phoned the
support line from where I recently bought my computer, and they told me that
very often if you use an Easy Transfer cable to transfer data from your
previous computer to the new one running Vista, as I had done, it corrupts
Windows Mail! They said that I should re-format the new computer. Before I
did that I backed up all my files to an external hard disk, and after that my
Mail worked brilliantly, and I didn't re-format! I don't know why or how this
happened.

I then added a new account, for my partner, and now we can't access his
mail. The message comes up that it checks for my mail, and gets it, and then
checks again for his, but then we get the error message: The connection to
the server has failed. Account: 'pop.googlemail.com ', Server:
'pop.googlemail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E. Any ideas?

In other words, whether you set it up for gmail.com or googlemail.com, it
should
work either way.

Note that these instructions cover both the IMAP method of connecting
and the POP method. Choose one of these, and don't get them mixed up.

Re: sending e-mails, and adding new account

Gmail doesn't use port 110. Use the settings they specify:
