Horrible problems with Windows mail

I am unable to post the Error message here. Socket No, 11001 it's the same
0x800CC ..that we've been hearing about. No answers have made sense so far.
My mail is a mess - old mesages are being re-sent, I occasionally get a
message and occasionally can send one. Sporadic at best. My ISP does not
provide support outside their own web page mail service (ugh). Where is the
VISTA SUPPORT TEAM? This problem only began on May 29, 2008. I NEED
assistance!!

You've left out the parts of the error message that would enable me to
decide if
I recognize the problem, and can offer any help. Can you right click on the
error
message and copy all of it to your next message?

Also, what email provider are you trying to use, if the error message
doesn't
make that clear? Many people choose their ISP as their email provider also,
since most internet accounts include one or more email accounts.

Many problems in Windows Mail are caused by interference from an antivirus
program, so what if any virus programs do you have, and have you ever had
a Norton or McAfee antivirus program on that computer?

I haven't seen any sign of a VISTA SUPPORT TEAM, or anyone else from
Microsoft, doing anything in this newsgroup during the last few months. You
need to phrase your questions so that Vista users who don't work for
Microsoft can understand them, because that's the only kind of people who
provide answers here.

Re: Horrible problems with Windows mail

I do right click the error and copy - I just cannot paste it here. Let me
print it out and write it:
"The host "smtp.charter.net" could not be found. Please verify that you
have entered the server name correctly. Subject "Re: No e mail service...",
Account: "pop.charter.net", Server: "smtp.charter.net", protocol: SMTP, Port
25, Secure (SSL): No, Socket Error: 1101, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Re: Horrible problems with Windows mail

Do these instructions help?

http://www.charter.com/customers/sup...articleid=1781

Also, I tried a tracert on smtp.charter.net and it at least found a machine
with that name.

Re: Horrible problems with Windows mail

Change smtp.charter.net to mail.charter.net, although it probably
won't make any difference. That server definitely exists, so there
seems to be something wrong with your Internet connection.

What happens when you try to paste the error message? Which
paste method are you using?
