Checking with your ISP for the proper email settings, would be a good first
step.

Their help page says that the server names are actually "mail.optonline.net"

These are the directions from their page for Outlook Express, and will be
almost exactly the same for Windows Mail.

It worked! Thank you thank you, Patrick! I don't know why the outgoing mail
changed from "smtp" to "mail"...but right now, I am just happy I can finally
reply or send messages! I had more than 15 in my outbox and now it is clear.
