If you get any error messages when trying to send and receive, right click on them and copy the entire error messages (often about 2 paragraphs) to your next messages. If the error messages don't make it clear what email provider you are trying to use, who is it? |

Whatever it is, make sure its email scanning option is turned off. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "Greek" <Greek@xxxxxx> wrote in message news BB7631C-401D-4760-BFC7-D93E66B4D700@xxxxxxQuote: > Account: 'greek', Server: 'pop.fuse.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: > '-ERR An authentication mechanism MUST be entered', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): > No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18 > > "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > Quote: >> Do you get an error message when you try to receive? | | Re: Can send but can't receive email on Windows vista email Looks like you're having problems getting your quoting of previous messages to come out right. It's making parts of the quotes look like they came from the wrong person. If you used the standard unstall of avast!, uninstall it, them do a custom install where you tell it to leave out the part that scans email. http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html Did you ever have a Norton or McAfee antivirus program on that computer, even a trial version? Their uninstall programs often fail to remove the parts of these programs that cause problems in Windows Mail. Also, see if this helps: <http://support.cox.com/sdccommon/asp/contentredirect.asp?sprt_cid=c2f1899f-492e-4718-8b8a-e6a391730f90> "help me" <helpme@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:F7A44E2E-678B-4A16-A9B2-2A1DA2541CBD@xxxxxx Quote: > > > "help me" wrote: > Quote: >> i use avast Quote: >> >> "robertmiles@xxxxxx" wrote: >> Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection.
