0x800CCC0E error message

I have been on the phone for over 3 hours with different tech people
today. I am worse off than before I started. I am using Windows Mail.
I have read lots of discussions and I know that my account settings are
correct according to my internet provider. I have disabled the e-mail
settings on my AVG anti-virus. I have turned off the windows firewall.
This is now the message that I am receiving. I need help. I just want
to use windows mail cause I hate the e-mail service via the internet.

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.live.com',
Server: 'pop3.live.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

If I remember correctly, live.com won't connect using the POP3 protocol.
You have to use the HTTP protocol instead, which Windows Mail can't
handle.

You can download and install Windows Live Mail, which can handle the
HTTP protocol:

Re: 0x800CCC0E error message

Is this a free Live.com account? If so, it doesn't have POP access.
Windows Live Mail, however, will accommodate your Live.com account.
Start a new account in WLM, and when you give it your Live.com email
address it will automatically set up the correct server settings.

Re: 0x800CCC0E error message

This is how my service provider told me to set things up 6 months ago
when I started using this computer with Vista and Windows Mail. It has
been working fine up until today.
