| | error message when clicking a link in email If I do NOT have a browser open (I'm using Firefox) and click on a link from Windows Mail I get an error message "windows cannot find 'www.whatever.com'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again", and then the browser DOES open and the page opens fine. Any idea what is going on and how I can fix it? Thanks! |

| | Re: error message when clicking a link in email It's a problem with Firefox which fails to register itself with the OS. The Mozilla fix is here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Windows_er...file_-_Firefox -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "Eddie G" <egoldberg@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:45525892-2aa2-4fb9-a5f3-1e6ac8323615@xxxxxx Quote: > If I do NOT have a browser open (I'm using Firefox) and click on a > link from Windows Mail I get an error message "windows cannot find > 'www.whatever.com'. | | Re: error message when clicking a link in email Gary provided the solution. Should you need a Registry Fix to automate the "ddeexec" key removal, see: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/fi...using-firefox/ Download firefox_dde_fix.reg and save to Desktop. Right-click on the file and choose Merge. Click Yes when asked for confirmation. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] The Winhelponline Blog: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog Windows® Troubleshooting: http://www.winhelponline.com "Eddie G" <egoldberg@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:45525892-2aa2-4fb9-a5f3-1e6ac8323615@xxxxxx If I do NOT have a browser open (I'm using Firefox) and click on a link from Windows Mail I get an error message "windows cannot find 'www.whatever.com'.
