| | Vista - Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail can't "save as" more than once |

| | Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail can't "save as" more than once Whenever I try to save a message to my hard drive a second time, i.e. overwriting the previous document, I get an error message saying that it is unable to save. I used to be able to do this with Outlook Express. Is there a way to fix this? Windows Live Mail has the same problem. |

You can edit at your leisure from there. Compose mail>Ctrl+S -- Regards Steve. MS-MVP. MAIL. [DTS] http://www.getsafeonline.org/ |

Is there no fix for it? Essentially it is an error in the program, as it comes up with a generic error message for no reason. It is something that should be fixed regardless of one being able to save a message in the drafts folder. |

| | Re: Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail can't "save as" more than once The obvious workaround is to use a unique filename each time. It's not clear to me why you would use "Save As" so much. If you explained why you need to do this, we may be able to suggest a better way. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "SW" <SW@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:356F1099-3D13-446A-9377-ECC9FD56CF3B@xxxxxx Quote: > Whenever I try to save a message to my hard drive a second time, i.e. > overwriting the previous document, I get an error message saying that it is > unable to save. | | Re: Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail can't "save as" more than o I use it as a word processor for work that is submitted to websites, so I am resaving the file often. | | Re: Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail can't "save as" more than o I duplicated what you are seeing. When I attempted a second "Save As" with the same filename, a "Confirm Save As" window popped up saying something like "Windows Mail can't Save As, more than one xyz.eml already exists. Do you want to replace it?" I don't consider this an error. Windows always warns you when you are about to overwrite an existing file. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "SW" <SW@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:CD5398B6-365B-4100-8B81-1A9B2D6892B1@xxxxxx Quote: > > > "mac" wrote: > Quote: >> >> "SW" <SW@xxxxxx> wrote in message >> news:356F1099-3D13-446A-9377-ECC9FD56CF3B@xxxxxx Quote: >> > Whenever I try to save a message to my hard drive a second time, i.e. >> > overwriting the previous document, I get an error message saying that it >> > is >> > unable to save. | | Re: Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail can't "save as" more than o That isn't the error I'm talking about. Sometimes it saves, extremely rarely, but nearly every time the message "Unable to Save the message. An Error has occured" comes up.
