reinstall

Hi.
Having a few problems with Windows mail.
When on the Web and I click on an Email link I get the message "cannot
perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly
installed"
Also when using Epson Scan to Email I get the message "an error occured
while starting the Email application"
Anyone know how to reinstall or repair Windows Mail in Vista.
Many thanks
Dibcurate

Hi Dibcurate,

Check to make sure that Windows Mail is set as the default email program with all of it's associations in Default Programs. This tutorial will show you how to.

Hope this helps,

Re: reinstall

I just fixed my version of Windows Mail in VISTA by doing the following:
Since the spellchecker had lost its hook to WM during a brief power outage,
I went back 5 days in time and did a "restore files." It worked like a
charm. If there was a time when it was working well, go back to that
"restore point" and try a restore option.

Re: reinstall

Windows Mail is a part of Vista, and very difficult to reinstall without
also doing the same to the rest of Vista. However, it's sometimes
useful to remove the email account under Windows Mail, then restart
Windows Mail and add the account again.

Also, you might want to check if you've applied this patch to Epson
Scan to Email:

http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/pr165p/pr165pps.pdf

More info:

http://ftp.epson.com/pdf/cx32__/cx32__ps.pdf

If you can't read .pdf files, download and install Adobe Reader:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Do not install the Google Toolbar program that is offered
along with it, unless you want to see more problems in
Windows Mail. Websites that allow you to do a Google
search are not a problem.
