| | Re: Unable to send in Windows Mail Click on the Outbox, then move any messages you find there to the Drafts folder or delete them. If any refuse to do either, download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090 Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first. Some common antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton or McAfee, tend to cause stuck messages and other problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately, so if you have such a program, remember where to find the hotfix and hope it will install again if you need it again. A recent version of the Trend antivirus program also causes problems in Windows Mail. The Vista SP1 update includes this hotfix and more, but takes longer to install. | | RE: Unable to send in Windows Mail Well I went to the DL site and downloaded KB941090 from the microsoft DL site. That was a fix for "unable to delete email" I had that problem before which the aforementioned fix corrected however it didnt work for my present problem. In fact it would not instal this time.. So I still am unable to send mail. | | Re: Unable to send in Windows Mail Either fire your incompetent ISP, or else tell them you are using Outlook Express. Windows Mail uses the same account settings as OE. When you try to send, is there an error message? If so, right-click on it, copy, then paste it into a reply here. By the way, don't assume that your problem is just like someone else's problem, therefore the same fix ought to work. The experts here will be glad to give you custom advice for your particular problem, once we have all the details. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "Beer" <Beer@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:C25F48F7-8F3F-41C8-9145-D426F076D0AE@xxxxxx Quote: > Have been using Windows Mail for a few months. | | Re: Unable to send in Windows Mail Did you try to install both the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version? At least one of them will refuse to install, though. If both refuse to install, also try the Vista SP1 update, which includes the hotfix but takes hours longer to install: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936330 If that also refuses to install or doesn't fix the problem with undeletable messages, go back to the KB941090 website and try the WORKAROUND section. | | Re: Unable to send in Windows Mail Contrary to the subject title of this thread, the error message you submitted means a failure to receive. It is always best to start a new thread for a new issue. "Syntax error" often means that a non-compatible antivirus is messing with Windows Mail. Which antivirus are you running? -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP "Jo" <Jo@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:4049E4F2-0CF2-4032-9DDA-148ED7E8E21F@xxxxxx Quote: > Account: 'pop.earthlink.net', Server: 'pop.earthlink.net', Protocol: POP3, > Server Response: '-ERR syntax error', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server > Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18 |
