Windows Mail won't save my passwords

For my newsgroup account and I cannot read the groups. Was working fine
until a few days ago.
Thanks

If you click Apply in the same session after you put a checkmark in the
box before remember password, a quirk in Windows Mail often makes
it forget the password. To fix this, start Windows Mail, then click on
Tools, then Accounts, then your newsgroups account, then Properties,
then Server. If there is still a check mark before Remember password,
leave it alone so you can safely click Apply below. Click at the end of
the dots for the password, then backspace over them, then type the
correct password, then click Apply. Click on OK, then Close.

Re: Windows Mail won't save my passwords

i'm having an almost identical situation with my POP3 account in Windows Mail except that it doesn't even have the dots in the password field to backspace over. And i've tried your recommendation as well as other combinations and its not working for me. In fact some of the time i cannot even click in the password box on the server tab unless i click on the check box for remember password.

*You're a genius! This worked for me after days of experimenting. I
followed your directions exactly and now when I start Windows Mail on my
Vista PC my mail begins downloading immediately from Comcast. No more
need to enter my Comcast username and passwords....and I have 4 email
accounts; it was a real pain in the butt! THANKS JIM!!!!! -Mark*
