Why can't I open Vista MAIL programme direct from my Vista CONTACT

When I open an e-mail from my Vista Contacts, I am unable to send because
it seems to use Outlook (I think a temporary trial version must have been
loaded on my laptop which is out of date and my Word 2007 Home/Student does
not have!) Is it possible for it to use the Vista MAIL programme
automatically when you click on a name?
From my incoming e-mails I can automatically add them to the Vista Contacts
List, so why can't I send automatically from this programme ?

It seems to me that I had this same problem and had to go to Control panel, default programs, set program access and computer defaults and tell it which program I wanted to use as my default for sending my e-mails.

Re: Why can't I open Vista MAIL programme direct from my Vista CONTACT

Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on Windows
Mail. If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.
