can't e-mail anymore

I updated my computer and could no longer receive my e-mail. "Error number
0x800CCC0E". I uninstalled the update and even restored to before I updated
and nothing works. Don't know what to try next. Any suggestions?

Re: can't e-mail anymore

We can seldom do much with just a small fragment of the error
message. Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste
the whole thing into a reply here.

Re: can't e-mail anymore

I kept checking other answers and figured out I needed to click off "This
server requires a secure connection" It took three days but I'm back up and
running.
Thanks anyway

Re: can't e-mail anymore

I am having the same problem and received the same error and I'm not sure
what you mean by click off "This server requires a secure connection." Where
would I find that? Thanks!

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'July 25th', Account:
'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Re: can't e-mail anymore

Your issue is somewhat different. Thanks for including the complete
error message because that makes troubleshooting a lot easier.

Comcast has been in the process of switching all their customers
to a different SMTP port number, apparently without notifying
their users adequately. Use these new instructions:
<http://help.comcast.net/content/faq/How-to-configure-Windows-Mail-for-Vista-to-use-port-587-for-sending-email>

Re: can't e-mail anymore

It looks like you need one of the changes Comcast has started
requiring for some of its users, but hasn't been good at telling
these users about in advance:

doesn't come up now so can't copy/paste it here]. I can recieve e-mails but
can't send any. My desk top is fine, only my laptop has this problem! I tried
a couple of things mentioned above but no luck. Please help!! Cheers..
