Unable to send email

I am also receiving the following error message when I try to send an email.

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Fw: Emailing: don 041',
Account: 'Work', Server: 'mail.sccc.tv', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have been on the phone with my service provider and they have checked
everything on their end and said that it is a problem with Microsoft. I have
also, after reviewing other posts, changed my port from 25 to 80 & 587 and
neither have fixed the problem. I have also uninstalled my antivirus
program. Still nothing--
I am very frustrated and confused--Help!!

Re: Unable to send email

Was your Internet connection being obtained from sccc.tv at the time
you got that error message?

I notice that mail.sccc.tv doesn't respond to port 25 or 587 connection
requests from off-network origins. I also can't find an email setup page
at http://sccc.tv.

Re: Unable to send email

It is doubtful that your problem is exactly the same.
Please post your exact and complete error message.

Which antivirus program? Some of them need more than just an uninstall
to stop the problems they cause in Windows Mail.

Also, have you asked them which of the over 65,000 ports available will
accept outgoing mail on their outgoing mail server, and what if any other
changes using these ports requires? Not all email providers are alike on
this.

Also, check if your list of installed programs includes Google Toolbar
Google Desktop, or SMS Desktop. If it includes any of these, uninstall
them. Web sites that let you do a Google search are not a problem.

Have you applied this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running?

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

If so, have you checked the Outbox for messages you need to delete?

Re: Unable to send email

I was using Trend Micro Antivirus (unistalled) and still have Webroot Spy
Sweeper installed. I have not asked them (ISP) which ports are available. I
did have Google Toolbar installed which I have now uninstalled and I applied
the hotfix that you suggested. Still not working......
