Sending E Mail

"Suddenly" I am not able to send E Mails more than a few words long. I get a
message "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection." Tech
support told me my Windows Mail is corrupted, and I have to restore factory
settings. Is there another way to fix this?

Re: Sending E Mail

Isn't there more to the error message than the part you quoted?
If so, right-click on it, copy, then paste the whole thing into a reply here.

Also, which antivirus are you running? As a test, you might try uninstalling
it, to see if that cures the problem.

Re: Sending E Mail

Many new computers come with free trial versions of antivirus programs
already installed, so check if you have any, even if the free trial time has
already expired.

Re: Sending E Mail

When that computer was new, did it have a trial version of either
Norton or McAfee antivirus installed? If so, let us know, because those
two programs can leave remnants that interfere with Windows Mail.

Check your SpySweeper settings to see if any of them involve email.
If so, any email integration must be turned off. If no improvement,
uninstall SpySweeper. You don't really need it since Vista includes
Windows Defender.

Thank you so much. I uninstalled Spy Sweeper, and my E Mail worked for the
first time in months. I reinstalled and my problem came back, so I disabled
the E Mail integration. It works! I have Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus, so
this is my antivirus software.

Any idea why it worked before? My problems may have started after I renewed
my subscription.

Windows Mail problems caused by antivirus programs are often slow to show
up;
several months is not unusual. For some, but not all, antivirus programs,
disabling
email scanning stops them from causing new problems, and may even cure any
old
problems they caused.

Re: Sending E Mail

Antivirus programs that scan emails are often slow to cause problems.
Many months may go by without any symptoms. I think the problem
starts when the antivirus quarantines or deletes a suspicious email.
