Comcast News Server Has Changed Name

Up until 7/05/08, I could use my news.comcast.net newsgroup NNTP server, but
it couldn't be reached after that. This was the name I was given by them and
the one that worked until that date. Now, their help page shows that their
news server is called: newsgroups.comcast.net . When I removed the old
subscription and added one with the new NNTP name, I got access again. If
anyone using Comcast keeps getting a "server cannot be contacted" message,
this may be the problem. You will have to re-subscribe to all your favorite
newsgroups, as they will be removed along with the old newsgroup account.
You wonder why Comcast wouldn't have notified their subscribers?

Re: Comcast News Server Has Changed Name

newsgroups.comcast.net traces to the giganews.com network.
Looks like Comcast has outsourced their NNTP service to Giganews.
